Favorite sites for book lovers

Well, hope everyone had a Christmas and has made New Year's resolutions---hopefully some that can be kept. Mine is to make no more resolutions. ha ha

I have been reading up a storm but haven't been posting. I have been exploring new sites and finding places for book lovers to find new authors and talk about what they read. In case you didn't notice, there is a new element added to my blog. This little widget is from a site called Shelfari. I found out about it on another of my favorite sites. Here you can list books you have read, are reading, want to read, already own, and a wish list of those you would like to own. I just started on my listings and haven't put reviews on all of my selections yet but I am getting there. I haven't even begun to add all the things I want to. At least it will keep me busy! Try it out and start your own shelf!

One of my favorite sites I check daily is Eons. This is for us old folks over 50. There are hundreds of groups you can join, chat with and have lots of fun. Several are devoted to reading and I am a member of Bookaholics. You can post a blog, pictures, videos, etc.--sort of like a MySpace for adults. There are also lots of brain games to keep your mind active as well. I have made many friends and have learned such stuff as how to do widgets, backgrounds, animations, etc. So, as you can see, it is also a good place to gain computer knowledge. Here is a link to the site you can copy and paste into your browser.

Another site is Goodreads which is similar to Shelfari. I am on that one too and have some friends I email regularly. We share books we have read and would like to read. Copy and paste this link to view:

Finally, there is a site called Swaptree which is fairly new. It is a free site for swapping books, music, videos and videos games. You simply make a list of items you wish to swap and you will be given a list of items to choose from for swapping. The only cost is postage and since items can be sent by media mail--it is a cheap way of getting things you want. You can import your Amazon.com wish list and see it anyone has something you have been craving. Also, you can get rid of items you no longer want and someone will take them off your hands. Copy and paste this into your browser:

One of these days, I'll figure out how to make working links to these sites but for now, this is it. Try out these places and discover new authors, books, and friends!

My Wish for You in 2008

May peace break into your house and may thieves come to steal your debts. May the pockets of your jeans become a magnet for $100 bills. May love stick to your face like Vaseline and may laughter assault your lips! May your clothes smell of success like smoking tires and may happiness slap you across the face and may your tears be that of joy. May the problems you had forget your home address!

In simple words...

May 2008 be the best year ever!!!
